Biddeford Pool is a unique and irreplaceable natural resource, including tidal marshland, stopovers for migratory birds, and critical nesting sites for endangered piping plovers.
The Biddeford Pool Improvement Association ("BPIA") - incorporated over 100 years ago - is dedicated to supporting our community and its natural resources and acting as a liaison between the "Pool" community and the City of Biddeford.
The BPIA is a federal tax-exempt organization complying with Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. Our efforts are enabled by our membership, whose generous donations are used to support important community activities.

Biddeford, which encompasses Biddeford Pool, is one of the oldest European settlements in the United States. Biddeford Pool, settled in 1616, is the first recorded permanent settlement in Maine.
The City of Biddeford is situated on the Saco River and was once a thriving mill town. Now it is a forward-looking, vibrant city with exemplary businesses, including award-winning restaurants.
